The Women’s Spiritual Repertory Company (WSRC) is a Christian group of women dedicated to teaching others the historical significance and truth about God’s love for women in the Bible.
The Southern California Branch of the WSRC was founded in 2000 by Modenia Joy Kramer and Suzanne Lawrence in order to facilitate the formation of bi-weekly Bible studies comprised of women around the United States and abroad.
We invite all women whom may be interested in forming their own branch of a WSRC in order to educate others about the important role of women in Christianity.
Members study a chosen female character from the Bible and “become” that woman through costumes reflective of the time and region. Exhaustive historical research, a comprehensive study of Scripture and the Holy Spirit’s inspiration culminate in the retelling of the character’s life story. At the bi-weekly meetings, members critique each re-enactment prior to presentation in front of civic and church groups, retirement centers, private events and classrooms. Two or three presenters are normally scheduled for an event as each story usually runs approximately 8 to 12 minutes.
Special requests are welcome.
There is no set fee for our presentations but donations are gratefully accepted.
Our first 18 years have been very active. We have presented many programs for groups, such as nursing homes, churches of various denominations, including Catholic schools and Bible Study groups, retirement centers, historical sights, and private homes all over Ventura County and as far as Palmdale and Long Beach, California.
This is an outreach mission that has changed the lives of many of our presenters and hopefully many of the people in our audiences. Our characters are taken from both the Old and New Testaments. Our motto is: “Teaching without Preaching”. We now have eleven members who give authentic first person dramatic monologues, each written by the presenter or by a script writer from the group.
We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 11:30 – 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Oxnard, California. During this time the women develop the character they have chosen from in-depth Bible study, research of the time the characters lived, and an element of personal inspiration.
The presenters work to portray a Biblical personality in a way that the character comes to life and has relevance to our contemporary world. Some women choose to not be presenters but enjoy the study.
The group is multi-denominational and all Christian women are welcome to join us.
